Cookie Policy

Version 2026-05-28 · Effective 2026-05-28

Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how MyFinMaps ("we", "our", or "us") uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies when you visit our website.

We are committed to collecting as little information as possible. We only use cookies and browser storage that are necessary to operate the service or that you have chosen to allow.

We do not currently use:

• advertising cookies

• behavioural tracking cookies

• marketing cookies

• social media cookies

• third-party analytics cookies

• cross-site tracking technologies

If this changes in the future, we will update this Cookie Policy before introducing any additional cookies or browser storage.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. They help websites function correctly and, in some cases, remember your preferences.

Some website preferences may also be stored using your browser's localStorage, which performs a similar function but is technically different from cookies.

Cookies and browser storage we use

NameTypePurposeDurationConsent required

Essential authentication cookie

When you sign in, our authentication system creates an essential cookie called next-auth.session-token.

This cookie:

• securely keeps you signed in while you use the service

• allows you to move between pages without signing in repeatedly

• protects authenticated areas of the website

This cookie is configured with appropriate security protections including HttpOnly, Secure (HTTPS only), and SameSite protection.

Because this cookie is strictly necessary for providing the service you request after signing in, it does not require consent under applicable UK and EU ePrivacy rules.

If you delete this cookie or sign out, you will need to authenticate again to access your account.

Optional theme preference

If you choose to accept optional cookies and browser storage through our cookie banner, we store your preferred visual theme (light or dark mode) using your browser's localStorage under the key myfinmaps-theme.

The stored value contains only your theme preference. It:

• does not identify you

• is not shared with third parties

• is not used for advertising

• is not used for profiling

• is not used for analytics

If you decline optional storage, your theme preference will still apply while the current browser tab remains open but will not be remembered on your next visit.

Managing your preferences

You can change your preferences at any time using the Manage Cookie Settings option below.

So that we do not ask you on every visit, we record your accept-or-decline choice itself in your browser's localStorage under the key cookie-consent. This record is strictly necessary to honour your decision, contains no other information, and is not shared with anyone.

If you withdraw consent:

• any stored theme preference will be removed from your browser

• future visits will not remember your selected theme unless you provide consent again

Your authentication cookie will continue to operate while you are signed in because it is required for the service to function.

You can also delete cookies and browser storage manually through your browser settings at any time.

Anti-bot security (Cloudflare Turnstile)

On our sign-in, registration, and password-reset pages we load Cloudflare Turnstile, a third-party CAPTCHA service, to protect those forms from bots and automated abuse.

Turnstile is provided by Cloudflare and loads a script from challenges.cloudflare.com. As part of providing this protection, Cloudflare may set its own cookies or read limited device signals. This is used solely for security — it is not used for advertising, analytics, profiling, or cross-site tracking, and we do not receive any tracking data from it.

Because this protection is strictly necessary to keep your account and our service secure, it operates on those pages without separate consent, consistent with applicable ePrivacy rules. You can review Cloudflare's own privacy practices on their website.

Third-party cookies

Apart from the Cloudflare Turnstile security widget described above, MyFinMaps does not currently use third-party cookies for:

• advertising

• analytics

• marketing

• user profiling

• cross-site tracking

Any product analytics we carry out (for example, aggregate usage and churn metrics) are produced in-house from server-side activity logs — they do not rely on cookies or third-party trackers.

If we introduce further third-party services in the future that use cookies or similar technologies, we will update this Cookie Policy and request consent where legally required.

Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in legal requirements or our use of cookies and browser storage.

When we make material changes, we will update the version shown at the top of this page. The current version is 2026-05-28.
